Welcome to the Highcountry Hillbillies blog!
For a quick intro, it’s about snowmobiling in the backcountry – and all things related. We’re talking about a range of things; from sled modifications to techniques to the dangers involved.
Sled modifications, ranging from swapping motors to DYI venting to lightweight seats. All of the modifications I’ve done have been done with a very limited wallet – so they’re both practical and economical.
Techniques include the riding positions, use of controls, stances, and maneuvers I’ve learnt and observed. Many of them, you’ve probably already learned, but you can never learn too many tricks, right?
Although it’s safer then a lot of things, there’s still a lot of danger in backcountry riding. Avalanche savvy and general survival skills are both very important, so I’ll try to cover them as best I can.
That’s all for the introduction, look out for the next post – and until next time, ride hard!!
