Have a seat

Ok, true to my word, the project is complete. Yes, we have a shock seat! It took a little longer then expected, but the end result is pretty awesome. For those of you who saw Shop Teasers, you might recognize the mounts on the sled. Of course, they are finished and painted now.

Concept is simple: a seat platform that incorporates a shock to absorb undue impacts (read: back saver). I used an SDG motorcycle seat, and a Fox Float mountain bike shock. From the little bit of testing I’ve done, it looks like it’s going to work pretty good. I think it requires more field testing, though.

  1. Hey nice fab work there Forrest, the sled is looking sweet! My guys at the firehouse have enjoyed watching you shred it up on your vids! Hopefully the cush new seat will smooth things out a bit. Is that adjustable compression I see?

Thanks, Russ! Nice to know that the vids are being enjoyed, too. Not enough snow yet to do anything crazy this year… but it will come soon enough – hopefully!

As per the seat, the shock actually just uses air for compression. So it’s as simple as adding or removing air from it to adjust stiffness. Pretty sweet!
